Frankenweenie a New Tim Burton Movie!

FRANKENWEENIE
Coming:  October 5, 2012
DISNEY

Voice Cast:
Catherine O’Hara, Martin Short, Martin Landau, Charlie Tahan, Atticus Shaffer, Robert Capron, Conchata Ferrell and Winona Ryder

Director:                                               TimBurton
Producers:                                            Tim Burton, Allison Abbate
Executive Producer:                              Don Hahn
Screenplay by:                                      John August
Based on an original idea by:                 Tim Burton

From creative genius Tim Burton (“Alice in Wonderland,” The Nightmare Before Christmas”) comes “Frankenweenie,” a heartwarming tale about a boy and his dog. After unexpectedly losing his beloved dog Sparky, young Victor harnesses the power of science to bring his best friend back to life—with just a few minor adjustments. He tries to hide his home-sewn creation, but when Sparky gets out, Victor’s fellow students, teachers and the entire town all learn that getting a new “leash on life” can be monstrous.
A stop-motion animated film, “Frankenweenie” was filmed in black and white and rendered in 3D, which elevates the classic style to a whole new experience.
In Tim Burton’s “Frankenweenie” young Victor conducts a science experiment to bring his beloved dog Sparky back to life, only to face unintended, sometimes monstrous, consequences.

Target Gift Card #Giveaway

Summer officially begins June 20.  Picnicking, camping, pool parties and BBQ's!  Every year we take a family vacation.  And it's NEVER to fancy hotel.  Our love is the lake.  Since my hubby and I first met we shared this passion.  Both being brought up by family who enjoyed camping, we knew it was something we wanted to share with our kids.  It's important quality family time.

There is nothing that can quite compare to the serenity of the outdoors.  Don't get me wrong we've done Disneyland and such, but it always feels like it goes so quick there's no time to have special talks or rest.  You have so much else to interact with.  When your camping it's just you and the kids.  It's physical, refreshing and relaxing.  Nothing beats a talk at the end of a couple fishing poles.

Because we began this tradition early we've acquired a few niceties.  And that's what makes it so easy to spend a week gone.  We figured we'd blow what we would spend on a Disneyland vacation on supplies and  little by little we've gotten to where we're at.  Mama needs a real mattress!

To help you out with your summer plans I'm giving away a $20 gift card to Target.  One of my favorite stores!  Let me supply the beer for your BBQ!  Or whatever you need :)

Free Blogger Backgrounds and Headers

Here's a couple I named "Romantic :)  Such pretty papers!  These are free to use as long as it's your personal blog.  Instead of inserting the url into the background html template code, I've made it quite simple to use, just copy the code and place it as a blogger gadget.  It's best if you place the gadget at the very bottom of your page, as most pages load top to bottom.  Slowing down your page load time is not something I want.

Also, If you like my designs please consider pinning it, +1, or sharing on FB..  Also I have a button at the bottom of this site {This Mom's Design}, if you choose to use a design I've made, consider placing it somewhere on your blog :)

Code:

<style type="text/css">body {background-image: url(

Code:

Header:

To use these backgrounds in blogger:

1. Copy Code

2. In blogger "add gadget" in your layout mode and choose "html/javascript".

3. Paste

4. Save Arrangement and View blog.

**Be sure you have your backgrounds set to "transparent"**

The dimensions are 1600x900px.  The center is 1000px.  The header is 1000x250px .  The header is a png image which means it has no white background.  Perfect to customize.

To use the header right click and save image.  Use any editing program you like.  I personally use paint.net, gimp, craft artist and Xara graphic designer.  All have pros and cons.  Before you spend money on fancy dancy programs check out gimp and paint.net.  They will get the job done for you most times.

When you are finished you can upload it directly to blogger using the layout section and selecting header.  Choose "instead of header and description" in placement.  If the header is  a bit wonky, you can add this peice of css in the advanced section of blogger template designer.

 .header img {margin: 0 auto;}

Thats it!  If you have problems let me know :)

Nature's Sleep Slippers #Review & #Giveaway

I'm a slipper girl.  Big time!  I have puffy fluffies, slipper socks, colorful ones, OK so I have a thing for slippers. They make me feel comfy cozy.  I was recently given the opportunity to try Nature's Sleep slippers.  Nature's Sleep products include beds, pillows, toppers, foundations, slippers and pet beds.  Naure's Sleep is committed to providing everybody the opportunity to enjoy a better night's sleep at affordable prices, while maintaining a concern for our environment.

Closed Toe Terry Slipper $30

Plush comfort and luxury with every step.  Indoors or out, these closed-toe slippers offer the perfect balance of softness and support in thanks to the visco-elastic memory foam inner sole, which cradles and contours to your feet while absorbing pressure and impact.
  • S, M, L, XL
  • Upper/inner sole 80% cotton/20% polyester; lining 100% polyester; thermoplastic rubber bottom
Designed in the USA, Made in China.

Here's a line up of what's good:

  • Indoor/Outdoor
  • Non-Slip
  • Memory Foam
  • Comfy
  • Support

How often have you gotten a pair of awesome slippers you think are the bombdiggity, only to wear them a bit and they go flat and loose their support?  Well, I have.  Too many times to count.  I've been wearing mine non stop since I got them....  what, is that wrong?  It's summer!  I have no where special to be.  Seriously wore them to Circle K the other day. LOL.  Whatever it's fine people, let's move on.  I have been wearing them and they are so heavenly.  The memory foam hugs your arch well.  My daughter laid on my feet and said they were her "pillow".  So soft.

The non-slip soles makes it safe to wear on my floors.  Whereas before walking from the satillo tile to linoleum usually means "brace yourself", your grounded good!  Of course if your sliding in like Tom Cruise, don't wear these.  And grabbing the trash to take outside without having to put my tennis shoes on is great!  Usually I shadow jump because I'm too lazy to put shoes on for a 10 second walk.  If your from AZ you know shadow jumping.  Kinda like 2 finger driving, an Arizona thing.  Because we have summer days well into the triple digits, shadow jumping is when your walking outside and to avoid the scorching sidewalk you jump from shadow to shadow on your tip toes. LOL.  So nice to just stroll out and in.

Also available in open toed: http://shop.naturessleep.com/Open-Toe-Terry-Slippers-w-Memory-Foam-H15984.htm $25.00.

A Switcheroo Is Coming!

I've had a lot of things going on for what like seems like forever.  But soon things will be settling down and I've been looking towards my future here in the blogosphere.   The Thanksgiving before last we hit a small blip.  That small blip made a huge impact on our lives.  Starting with selling our animals and ending with us filing bankruptcy this spring.

Meanwhile we've moved into a much smaller place, put the kids into a fabulous school {but we're still home schooling our oldest}, and my honey went back on the road.

I'm not growing any veggies anymore or raising any animals so I feel like "TheChickenista" in me has gone.  For now at least.  I hope one day again we are blessed with the room to do all those wonderful things again.  There's nothing like it!  But for the foreseeable future it's not looking that way.  The bankruptcy was a wake up call.   How easily one thing can snowball into ruining everything.  You're behind a little, then that turns into a lot, then you're just packing.

But I must say that to anyone who may feel scared or like it's just never going to be the same, you'd be surprised.  I felt like all our hard work was for nothing and we'd never find a home again.  But we did.  It's not ours, but guess what, that means Mama don't have to do all the fixing around here!   And it IS a HOME.  Home is where you make it.  And all the crap you thought you needed turns out, not so much.  The important things in life are what they can't take and you can't loose.  Your family.  The love.  The security you give each other.

So with that I say goodbye "TheChickenista Reviews".   I must say I feel like a fraud using that name when there is a brood Chickenista's out there.  SO yes, no longer will I be going by that name.  It's just Veronica, or Vero as my new domain will be Vero's View.  Which isn't live just yet!  SO don't go anywhere!  My thoughts were to mosey on down to wordpress.org but the coding is driving me nuts!  So for now I will be google hosted.  But I should be fully done with new domain by the weekend!

A couple of things before I put a pin in this.  First, Twitter was a breeze switching over, same for Google.  I shouldn't loose any followers/subscribers.  But Facebook I'm needing to make a whole new page and start over so hopefully you all come too!  The old page will be dead and longer receiving updates for Vero's View.  The new page is https://www.facebook.com/pages/Veros-Views/305709262847383 .  I'm also doing away with posting bloggy stuff  on my personal profile.  It will just be family and friends.  So just a like on the Vero's View fb page will do ya.  But it will be bare until I'm finished transferring everything.

Since ancient times, stories of epic battles and mystical legends have been passed through the generations across the rugged and mysterious Highlands of Scotland. From Disney and Pixar, a new tale joins the lore when the courageous Merida(voice of Kelly Macdonald) confronts tradition and challenges destiny to change her fate.
“Brave” follows the heroic journey of Merida, a skilled archer and headstrong daughter of King Fergus (voice of Billy Connolly) and Queen Elinor (voice of Emma Thompson). Determined to carve her own path in life, Merida defies an age-old custom sacred to the unruly and uproarious lords of the land: massive Lord MacGuffin (voice of Kevin McKidd), surly Lord Macintosh (voice of Craig Ferguson) and cantankerous Lord Dingwall (voice of Robbie Coltrane). Merida’s actions inadvertently unleash chaos and fury in the kingdom, and when she turns to an eccentric Witch (voice of Julie Walters) for help, she is granted an ill-fated wish. The ensuing peril forces Merida to harness all of her skills and resources – including her clever and mischievous triplet brothers – to undo a beastly curse before it’s too late, discovering the meaning of true bravery.
Directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, and produced by Katherine Sarafian, “Brave” is a grand adventure full of heart, memorable characters and signature Pixar humor that audiences of all ages around the world have come to eagerly expect. The film takes aim at theaters on June 22, 2012, and will be presented in Disney Digital 3D™ in select theaters.

Flora by GUCCI Review

Being a BzzAgent definitely has it's perks....  Actually it's all perks and freebies!  This time I was invited into the GUCCI campaign.

Flora by GUCCI The Garden comes in 3 wondering scents.  Gorgeous Gardenia, Glamorous Magnolia and Gracious Tuberose.

Glamorous Magnolia

A brilliant opening of buoyant freesia, zest and green leaves yields to a tactile fusion of peony and magnolia. Sandalwood, musk and warm chocolate lend sensuousness to a base that proves as lingering as it is addictive. Glamorous Magnolia celebrates the magnolia in all its guises: radiant freshness, velvet petals and an enduringly feminine sensuality. Glamour is assured.

Gorgeous Gardenia

A sparkling prelude of succulent red berries and juicy pear gives way to an opulent floral heart. The plushness of gardenia petals is enhanced by the creamy warmth of frangipani flower, underlaid by the delectable aroma of patchouli and brown sugar. Gorgeous Gardenia is a paean to the lightness of the shrub's first blossom and the addictive richness of it in full bloom. The result is gorgeously feminine.

Gracious Tuberose

A distinctively elegant tuberose in which a verdant overture of violet leaves and peach softens into the plant's silken blossom. A base of white cedarwood and cistus enhances the impression of refined charm. Gracious Tuberose embraces all aspects of the flower's loveliness: its fresh green shoots, dew-sprinkled petals and lingering sillage. The effect is the most gracious aura.
In addition to my sample bottles, I was given little sample vials to give out.  I had my teenage nieces and their friends have a sniffing party. LOL.  I also had a impromptu sampling with some school moms.   The most popular with the younger girls was the Gardenia.  To me it seemed a bit fruity?  My age range loved the Tuberose.  It's a mild, clean very nice scent.  My favorite has to be the Magnolia.  It's a bit heavier but not overwhelming.  At first apply it seems to be, but after it develops it leaves a wonderful aroma!

Overall I'm in absolutely love with the new trio.  If your looking for a great light summer scent I would say the Tuberose is my choice.

Go over to macys.com and sephora.com to learn more and find your scent!

Pillsbury Ready to Bake! Shape Cookies Package #Giveaway #MyBlogSpark!

Mother's Day has come and gone.  I hope all you lovely mothers had an awesome day.  Whether you spent it with your family or relaxing in a spa, it was our day to do what we wished!

On Friday I sent my oldest off with his Dad.  {Hubby is a truck driver and was promising him a ride along}....  it just so happened  they left the Friday.  I had wanted to post this giveaway last week, but with all the drama of our bankruptcy hearing last Monday, it took a back seat.  But I'll get into that in another post :)

My Mother's Day weekend started out like I said saying goodbye to my oldest and Hubby, Saturday was kind of blah.  I wasn't feeling the cheer.  I was sitting here with the TV going but just in a funk.  My youngest son brought over to me the cookie sheet and said, " You promised we'd make cookies this weekend."  Honestly it was the last thing on my mind.  I've never been away from my son before for anything longer than a night and the upset from the bankruptcy was still weighing heavily on me.  What our future will hold kinda thinking.  But a promise is a promise!

I stood up and smiled to him and said you know what, let's do it!  I had my daughter grab the pre-made Pillsbury® Holiday Shape® Cookies from the fridge and my second oldest grabbed the knife and we were off.

I started sharing stories of each ones birth.  How when I first found out I was pregnant with Anthony {my oldest} Daddy was still sleeping and I woke him up with the news.  He was so excited that he jumped out of bed and proposed right there in the middle of our bedroom with tears streaming down his face.  I told them each ones labor pains, who gave me which stretch mark, what my cravings were with each one, just silly stuff like that.  Silly to me, but boy were these kids into it.  Before I knew it I had forgotten all about the bankruptcy and later realized hey we've been dirt poor before and if we have to we'll pull ourselves up again.

We sat at the table with our yummy cookies and milk and laughed about my stories.  I think it was the perfect distraction for all of us!  Funny how baking does that.  Even if you haven't got the time to bake "from scratch". ♥
